The one I had like this just broke, and I'm going to buy another one here, because I can't find them anywhere else. Can I say enough about the skip protection on this player. I've had several portable cd players over the years, and this one is by far my favorite. But be sure to put the pads on, because they make all the difference. I'm going to go buy one right now. I saw that another reviewer had trouble with the sound quality. These earbuds produce the best sound quality that I've been able to find in earphones or headphones, and I've been through more than my fair share looking for good sound quality.If you have the right earphones, you won't need to disable the skip protection.
FULL skip protection, which is good for me cause I'm incredibly clumsy, even just sitting somewhere; I'm constantly bumping tables and books and such, and the skipping on most players is just atrocious. The skip protection is wonderful--I've had so much trouble trying to find another player that doesn't skip. And full skip protection, not just 60 or 120 seconds. My reccomendation would be to get a pair of simple sony earbuds in the winding hold case. I now keep at least two pairs of these earbuds in my house, in case one breaks. Anyway, I'll shut up because I'm sure you get the idea of how much I love this player. Finally.
For some, the small buttons may be an issue, however, they are easy to operate once you know their function. Sony DEJ011 CD Walkman« Portable CD Player This little jewel provides a fast and efficient method of listening to CD's. It is straight forward and of good quality. On several occassions, the unit was bumped or dropped. The anti-skip function worked well and never caused the CD to malfunction.
Have to echo the prior complaint about the less-than-easy battery change. My prior discman players had the buttons on top--bigger and easier to use. Also, why can't the operating controls/buttons be larger. Or, at least, colored differently to help distinguish the various functions. When this one dies, if they're still available (hate you IPod), I'll look for one with more user-friendly controls--even if I have to consider a non-Sony (Gasp. Did I really say that).
Sony DEJ011 CD Walkman« Portable CD PlayerI bought this CD player for two reasons. First, I wanted a bookmark function (I listen to books on CD as I walk).Second, my last Sony CD player lasted about 6 years.This player worked well for almost 6 months and then it died.
I use my CD player to listen to books on tape when I go for my daily walks. This Sony is perfect for the job---easy to use, good sound.
